If you’ve been injured at work, you don’t have to navigate recovery alone. At ProActive Physiotherapy in West Kelowna, we work directly with WorkSafeBC (WSBC) to provide timely, evidence-based physiotherapy so you can safely return to work and the activities you love.

Our team has extensive experience treating workplace injuries—from acute strains and sprains to more complex, long-standing issues—and we offer direct billing to WorkSafeBC for approved claims.

What is WorkSafeBC physiotherapy?

WorkSafeBC physiotherapy is treatment funded by WorkSafeBC for workers who have been injured on the job and have an accepted claim. Once your claim is approved and you have a claim number, WorkSafeBC typically covers:

  • Initial physiotherapy assessment

  • Follow-up treatment sessions

  • Exercise programs and education to support safe return to work

Our physiotherapists complete a thorough assessment, create a personalized treatment plan, and communicate with WorkSafeBC and your employer (when appropriate) to support your recovery and return-to-work plan.

Our WorkSafeBC physiotherapy process

1. Before your first visit

To book a WorkSafeBC physiotherapy appointment at our West Kelowna clinic, you’ll need:

  • Your WorkSafeBC claim number (or claim in progress)

  • Date and details of your injury

  • Your Personal Health Number (PHN)

If your claim is still pending, we can explain your options and how billing works in the meantime.

2. Initial assessment

During your first visit, your physiotherapist will:

  • Review your injury and work duties

  • Assess your movement, strength, and function

  • Identify aggravating activities and barriers to work

  • Discuss your goals and concerns

From there, we’ll create a clear treatment plan and, when needed, provide updates to WorkSafeBC about your progress.

3. Treatment and active rehab

Your WorkSafeBC physiotherapy treatment may include:

  • Hands-on manual therapy to reduce pain and improve mobility

  • Individualized exercise programs to restore strength, endurance, and flexibility

  • Work-specific functional training to prepare you for job tasks

  • Education on pacing, ergonomics, and injury prevention

  • Modalities (as appropriate) to help manage pain and inflammation

We’ll progress your program as you improve, always keeping your job demands and long-term health in mind.

4. Return-to-work support

We collaborate with you, WorkSafeBC, and (when appropriate) your employer to:

  • Support graded or modified return-to-work plans

  • Recommend temporary restrictions or modifications

  • Help you build confidence returning to your role

Our goal is not just to get you back to work—but to help you stay there safely.

What to expect at your WorkSafeBC physio appointments

At each visit, you can expect:

  • Check-in on your symptoms and work status

  • Targeted treatment based on your current stage of healing

  • Updated exercises to keep you progressing

  • Clear guidance on what to do at home and at work

You’ll leave each session knowing what you’re working on and why.
