We are seeking an energetic, friendly and above all, “ProActive” Rehab Assistant to join our West Kelowna clinic.
This is a busy role where you will be faced with multiple conflicting priorities at one time. Close attention is needed to successfully assist a full schedule for up to 5 physiotherapy practitioners at any one time, while also keeping the working areas tidy and organized.
This role involves the following, but is not limited to:
- Preparing and maintaining the treatment areas: Setting up equipment before a patient's session and ensuring that the treatment areas and equipment remain clean, safe, and tidy. Filling gels and lotions...Stocking needles and tape etc .
- Treatment Beds: Wiping down of treatment beds & equipment after each patient. Changing pillow cases and preparing beds for the next patient.
- Laundry: Rotating laundry from washer and dryer, folding, organizing and putting it away in appropriate areas. This involves approximately 8-10 loads of laundry a day!
- Applying/removing therapeutic modalities: Administering treatments such as heat and cold therapy, ultrasound, TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation), and hydrotherapy, as directed by the physiotherapist.
- Patient Care: Greeting and placing clients in treatment areas. Helping physiotherapists where needed to keep flow going between patients.
- Guiding patients through exercises: Assisting and motivating patients in performing exercises and stretches prescribed in their care plan, and ensuring they use equipment correctly and safely, as directed by the physiotherapist.
Ideally, your hours would look something like below, but we are open to discussing slight variations that would work for everyone...
- Monday/Wednesday: 9am-4pm
- Tuesday/Thursday: 10am-5pm
- Friday: 9am-3pm (optional)
Experience
- Prior experience working in inpatient or outpatient physiotherapy settings is highly desirable.
- Skilled nursing facility experience or familiarity with geriatrics enhances your ability to support diverse patient populations.
- Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and various therapy techniques including trigger point therapy is essential.
- Proven ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams in clinics or hospital settings.
